Mayan Trade and Agriculture

Objective: HHG Tributes of 2018 will be able to trace agricultural techniques and the origins of Mayan trade routes to the geographical features of the empire.

Do now. Get out your homework. Make a copy of today's  handout. Together we will watch this video!


Mayan Farming Techniques. Look at the different geographical features that were a part of the Mayan empire. How do you think farmers adapted to the different environments to grow the corn and beans and squash they needed to survive?

Trade in the Empire. Look at the map below. Which goods are mostly found in the southern highlands (the mountainous regions)? Which goods are found mostly in the lowlands? (Don't forget: you can click on the picture to make it larger.)


Homework:

1. Log in to classdojo with your secret code and set up your account.
2. Make sure the parent who uses email most signs in with the parent code and then have them sign the dojo report.
3. If you have a facebook, go like the new class page and share it with all your friends and family! We need 1,000 like by end of school year, so help us make history IN history by spreading the word on our awesome cloud classroom!
