DO NOW. Why do civilizations end or weaken? We've seen the end of a lot of civilizations this year -- or at least the end of a period of strength. Brainstorm as many reasons as you can for why this happens. If you can, try match your reason to a civilization(s) that is an example.
Time to explore! We are going to visit the Maya city of Copán and search for clues to its collapse. Just like archaeologists, you will need to interpret the evidence and use it to draw a conclusion about why the Maya civilization fell.
