Day 95: Chinese Inventions (Day 1)


Ancient Chinese Compass!
Standards:
7.3 Students analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the civilizations of China in the Middle Ages.

7.3.2 Describe agricultural, technological, and commercial developments during the Tang and Song periods.

SS Objective:
  • HHG Tributes will be able to describe Chinese technological developments from about 200 to 1400 C.E., especially during the Tang and Song dynasties. 
ELA Objectives:
  • HHG Tributes will be able to read and highlight a text according to main idea, important (supporting) details and interesting (extra) details.
  • HHG Tributes will be able to write personal definitions of interesting vs. important details. 
Step 1: Do now. Open your Homework (Day 94). Make a copy of today's handout. Then, use your homework to answer the questions about the development of Chinese trade and commerce. 
  • If you finish early, check out the class averages listed below! Then, go to the comments section of today's lesson and tell your fellow tributes the grade you plan on getting on the FSA next Monday and exactly how you plan to study!

Step 2: Summarizing Non-fiction. Together we will read Intro to Chinese Inventions. As we read, we will do the following:

1.     Change the font of the main idea to blue. 
2.    Highlight important (supporting) details yellow 
3.    Highlight interesting (extra) details pink 
4.    Use the comments feature to track as we read. 
5.    Complete the graphic organizer 

Step 3: With a partner, you will begin Day 95 HW| Chinese Exploration & Travel. You may not share documents. You each must complete your own.
