Day 5: Welcome to Chromebooks! (9/10/2012)

Key Points:
1. Technology is a tool, not a toy.
2. We use technology tools to help us study the past.
3. Technology can help us think critically and be creative.

Objective: The HHG Tributes will be able to log in to their assigned Chromebook, set up a their e-mail account, and add all their teachers' e-mail addresses to their contacts.

Task 1: While students watch a video on how to move around the classroom with Chromebooks, Ms. Kelly will give students their email addresses and Chromebook numbers. Write the information on the inside of your agenda.

Task 2: Students practice getting their chromebooks for the day.

Task 3: Follow along with Ms. Kelly as she shows you how to log in to the Chromebook.

Task 4: Head to our class website: www.HistoryHungerGames.com
You can access this from anywhere!

Task 5: Follow along as Ms. Kelly shows you how to bookmark our class website.

Task 5: Click on today's lesson: Today’s Tribute Training.

Task 6: Most days, the first thing you will do is submit homework if you have not already. Close your computer and track Ms. Kelly while she reviews homework expectations.

  • Homework completion will be checked at 6:45 each morning.
  • Students who have not submitted an electronic version by this time must bring a paper copy to Breakfast, show it to their homeroom teacher and request to use a chrome book to submit their homework properly.
  • There will be limited time for students who have paper copies to enter their homework electronically. Any homework submitted after 7:29 will be considered late and must fill out a late/missing homework request.

**If you did not get to use a computer today, you can submit your technology request tomorrow in order to get access to your chromebook.

Task 7: Exit Survey

Homework: Create a political map of your house OR a resource map of your neighborhood. Must be neat and use at least three colors.
