1.0 Listening and Speaking Strategies
- Deliver focused, coherent presentations that convey ideas clearly and relate to the background and interests of the audience. Students evaluate the content of oral communication.
2.0 Speaking Applications (Genres and Their Characteristics)
- Students deliver well-organized formal presentations employing traditional rhetorical strategies (e.g., narration, exposition, persuasion, description). Student speaking demonstrates a command of standard American English and the organizational and delivery strategies outlined in Listening and Speaking Standard 1.0.
DL Standards:
- Create – edit, combine digital media (e.g. a film, a podcast)
- Illustrate – a document with an illustration or layout
Illinois Objectives:
- Memorable introduction and conclusion to the presentation; connects introduction and conclusion; returning to the theme or main idea of using talent to help others.
- Information in the presentation was organized in a clear, logical way; easy to anticipate what information would be presented next. All Prezi pathways were formatted correctly.
- Pathways, images, videos and all visual aides work properly and logically/smoothly move along the presentation
- No/minimal errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, or usage.
- Keeps eye contact all of the time, slowly scanning the audience. Refrains from fidgeting, hands in pockets, pacing, etc.
- Does not directly read from notes or slides, but only glances once in a while to keep on track;Enthusiastic; Enjoyable to listen to; Adds variety to speaking style (lower or higher volume, change of pace, use of character voices);
Complete your Prezi and be ready to present on Monday.
Monday/Tuesday Homework for ALL homerooms:
- Study District 5 & 6 on Quizlet for at least 20 minutes or more.
- Take the Quiz and pass with 80% or higher.
- Have a parent right a note stating:
- Your name and their relationship to you
- The District you studied
- How long you studied for
- Your score on the quiz
- Sign & Date, and give their cell phone number on the note
